Arbo on OGGN Podcast

What’s the issue?

The process for renewables and transmission infrastructure development is even more complex — from a permitting, interconnection and tracking basis — and uncertain, from a timing and viability perspective, than the gas infrastructure build-out.

Why does it matter?

We see the ability to anticipate and interpret (“the other AI”) government policy, regulatory agency reviews, and judicial oversight as critical to the energy transition. And flip-flopping between political and ideological extremes makes long-term investment in any type of energy infrastructure — traditional or renewable — risky at best and impossible at worst.

What’s our view?

On Tuesday, Arbo’s Gary Kruse joined host Joe Batir of the Energy Transition Solutions podcast by Oil & Gas Global Network for a discussion on the role of regulatory policy in America’s past and present energy evolutions, and the need for reform to facilitate the next energy infrastructure buildout.

On Tuesday, Arbo’s Gary Kruse joined host Joe Batir of the Energy Transition Solutions podcast by Oil & Gas Global Network for a discussion on the role of regulatory policy in America’s past and present energy evolutions.

Joe asked Gary how regulation and policy previously facilitated the growth of natural gas pipelines in the United States and what may be gleaned for the now imperative buildout of transmission and renewables infrastructure. And the conversation covered some hotter topics, too — such as:

  • How regulation impacts energy costs;
  • Whether pipelines are still easier to build than renewables projects;
  • If the U.S. might see the bipartisanship needed for meaningful reform;
  • The Inflation Reduction Act;
  • Winter Storm Uri;
  • When the U.S. will achieve “net-zero”;
  • and more…
