On a monthly and quarterly basis, we provide customers a unique view into contract filings from data that is disparate, difficult to interpret, and hard to analyze — through the AMA Report and ETA Report dashboards.

These products provide short-term and longer term contract analysis in a simple aggregated format to help identify trends, anomalies, and ultimately opportunities for growth and revenue maximization. Arbo subscribers, especially in the marketing and trading segments, consistently use these reports to ultimately grow and retain revenue across their book of business.

Through these reports and data sets there is a vast amount of untapped knowledge our customers use to stay ahead of the competition from a number of different angles within the industry. Today’s ArView takes the form of a case study on these offerings. We hope this information can unlock additional value for your team.

Arbo AMA Report

The AMA Report uses Arbo’s cloud-based data acquisition system that autonomously monitors, extracts, and aggregates AMAs from a multitude of interstate natural gas companies.

This report enables customers to visualize different aggregations for the quarter (forward-looking), in order to identify trends, anomalies — and ultimately — opportunities. Our customers also use this report retroactively, to spot missed opportunities and to improve future negotiating positions.

Arbo acquires all AMAs filed on the pipelines, shippers, and agents. This includes capacity information, number of contracts, number of shippers, and number of agents. This intelligence helps to identify and describe the parties involved and identifies trends and insights.

The first page details the agents with the greatest change (positive or negative) for both the change in number of contracts and the change in managed capacity.

The second page details the top 25 shippers grouped by number of agents, which reveals who is actively using agents and at what volumes. This helps pipelines identify opportunities to proactively seek a shipper(s) to diversify their agent mix.

The third page rolls up AMA data at the pipeline level, showing the top 25 pipelines by number of shippers with agents. This demonstrates a trend we have observed over time; there are a select few pipelines using a very large number of shippers/agents, and that number decreases significantly as you go down the list.

Finally, we highlight the top 25 agents by managed capacity, which could be used by agents for competitive intelligence — by shippers seeking out a trusted agent (or agents) to help manage their capacity, or even by a pipeline, to understand who its shippers are using to manage contracted capacity.

Arbo ETA Report

Arbo’s ETA Report helps to break down deals and volumes for both pipelines and contract holders of interruptible and capacity release transactions, allowing customers to identify trends from the prior two months. Arbo’s data acquisition system acquires, structures, aggregates, and transforms this data into actionable intelligence, so subscribers can avoid the research and recordation burden of navigating to myriad EBBs.

The report is delivered bi-monthly and consists of 16 data visualizations that detail a variety of different data views that are segmented by contract holder, pipeline, interruptible, and capacity release contracts. Many customers use this intelligence to identify opportunities across capacity release and interruptible contracts — serving both as a negotiation tool and a retrospective on missed opportunities (similar to the AMA report).

Leveraging the Power of Analytics Across Datasets

An interesting way to employ these reports is by extrapolating data from both in tandem to identify which pipelines and shippers are releasing capacity on a routine basis. This can help to identify pipeline utilization trends, as well as understand the short-term movement of gas volumes within longer term contractual agreements.

Supporting M&A With Location & Point Record Data

The ArboIQ team receives many questions from customers regarding receipt and delivery points, basin supply volumes, and contract cliffs, which we analyze using the exact data sets behind these reports. We compile visuals to identify which contracts expire and when, enabling our customers to understand where opportunities exist to strategically position their team and company for future growth and revenue. Similarly, this data can also be used to help paint a company’s financial picture — to identify potential candidates for acquisitions or mergers. We’ve supported customers through numerous successful acquisitions, supplementing their decision making with data at each step along the way.

Of course, there are more use cases for these data sets and others in Arbo’s catalog. We currently publish five unique intelligence reports on a recurring cadence, and are always in search of additional ideas to support you in extracting untapped value from data. Please reach out if you would like a refresher of the offering, or to explore additional ways we can support your team.

If there is a topic, commodity, or industry data area you’re keen on knowing more about on a routine basis or if you are currently not on the distribution list for these reports but would like to be, please get in touch.
