About the Role
The objective of the Finance Manager (FM) is to steward the growth of the company by accounting for and managing all aspects of day-to-day and long term inflows and outflows of cash, assets, liabilities and income in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Success requires collaborating with functional leaders on budgeting and providing management with the financial information and metrics needed to make short and long term fiduciary decisions to achieve corporate growth goals.
Specific responsibilities include:

All bookkeeping and accounting utilizing Quickbooks or other financial software.

Monthly financial statement preparation, analysis, and reporting to management with a focus on profit & loss and forecasts of cash flow.

Management and tracking of all banking transactions and reconciliation with accounting software.

Accounts payables and receivables.

Managing the company and functional level budgeting process.

Conducting financial analysis for any corporate finance transactions, such as acquisitions, equity or debt financing transactions, or other restructurings.

Participation in development and reporting of financial key performance indicators for stakeholders such as the Board of Directors and functional and P&L leaders.

You have:

financial management and accounting experience in a business-to-business setting involving transactions with large and small organizations.

a CPA designation, Master of Business Administration degree, or equivalent work experience.

proven business acumen developed from experience in commercial organizations.
Even better:
- You’ve worked on P&L accounting and activity-based cost allocations.
- You have exposure to venture financing and “cap table” calculations and scenario planning.
- You have experience building and managing relationships with customers and diverse stakeholders in a business context.
- You’re interested in and able to to grasp the complex issues and dynamics at the intersection of energy markets, industry, and technology.
Location & Work Environment
The position is eligible for a flexible full or part time work schedule based in Washington D.C. A minimum of 2 in-office days per week are required.
The position requires the ability to effectively work and collaborate in a remote environment by utilizing a variety of widely used productivity information technology tools, such as Google Docs and Slack, and communicating effectively verbally and in writing, both one-on-one, and in team settings.
Occasional travel to meet with teammates may be required.
